Fake it ‘til you make it
This may be a first for me to be admitting this, but I have been reading self-help books recently. Well, actually just books on how to achieve happiness and confidence. Both books advised to fake it ‘til you make it. Act as if you are confident and eventually you will be confident, act that you are happy and you eventually will. I’m not exactly sure if I have unintentionally done it, but if I have they sure do work! Even for just a while though. Anywayyys, what made me remember this was a certain line from Desiderata.
“Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.” -Desiderata
Strive is the key word here. I don’t know about you, but striving to be happy seems like the same thing as faking it based on my perspective, that is. Nevertheless, it really does seem like a good idea.
